We are passionate at helping people with acne or breakouts, with medical grade treatments.
Acne and breakouts aren’t just for teens. Many people have it as adults too, there seems to be an increase of adults suffering.
It doesn’t have to be that way. There are steps you can take to turn your skin around at any age.
Overcoming Acne with Skin Health Plans
The corner stone of acne creation in your skin is the cells not turning over or exfoliating effectively and efficiently within the follicles. Sluggish cell turn over kicks in and the cells get stuck in the follicle creating blockages:
- Deep blockages lead to cysts.
- Superficial blockages create blackheads.
- Mid point blockages create white heads.
Oil builds up underneath the blockages creating the pimples. When the skin is functioning well we don’t get the blockages and therefore don’t get the pimples. In this way acne is largely preventable. Using good skincare daily that works on the metabolism of the skin by preventing blockages is essential in acne management and prevention.
Cleansing is imperative in prevention and treating acne, but probably not in the way you think. Over cleansing the skin with agents that strip, foam and scrub will make acne worse! Too much cleansing strips out too much of the oils and damages the barrier. As a result not only does the skins sensitivity increase BUT the skin thinks too much oil has gone so it goes into overdrive and produces an abundance of oil resulting in uneven breakouts! This is what we call ‘reactive oil production’. Harsh cleansers inhibit the skins’ natural cell exfoliation enzymes, which increase poor cell exfoliation and causes blockages of pores.
A combination of skincare, treatments and in some cases medical ointments or antibiotics may need to be used. It's important to understand its a multi modality service. Combining the knowledge and expert services offered under our 'skinMD Clinic' will ensure results will be achieved and a focus on preventative education as well as current treatment is ensured.
