Skin Cancer Check

Skin cancer checks are examinations to detect early signs of skin cancer, identifying unusual moles or skin changes for timely intervention.

Skin cancer checks involve a thorough examination of the skin by a specialist healthcare professional. During the check, the provider inspects the entire body for unusual moles, growths or skin changes. They may use a Dermatoscope for better visualisation. Patients are encouraged to discuss any concerns or changes in their skin for accurate assessment and monitoring.

What you need to know:

  • The specialist skin GP will discuss your medical history, skin concerns, and any changes in moles or skin texture.
  • The GP will examine your skin from head to toe, including areas often overlooked.
  • A specialised tool may be used to closely examine moles and skin lesions.
  • Evaluation of size, shape, colour, and symmetry of moles to identify any abnormal characteristics.
  • You may be asked to point out any areas of concern.
  • Recommendations for skin care and sun protection may be provided.
  • Discussion of any necessary follow-up appointments or treatments based on findings.
  • If suspicious lesions are found, a biopsy may be recommended for further analysis.
