Skin Cancer Check
Skin Cancer Check
Skin cancer checks involve a thorough examination of the skin by a specialist healthcare professional. During the check, the provider inspects the entire body for unusual moles, growths or skin changes. They may use a Dermatoscope for better visualisation. Patients are encouraged to discuss any concerns or changes in their skin for accurate assessment and monitoring.
What you need to know:
- The specialist skin GP will discuss your medical history, skin concerns, and any changes in moles or skin texture.
- The GP will examine your skin from head to toe, including areas often overlooked.
- A specialised tool may be used to closely examine moles and skin lesions.
- Evaluation of size, shape, colour, and symmetry of moles to identify any abnormal characteristics.
- You may be asked to point out any areas of concern.
- Recommendations for skin care and sun protection may be provided.
- Discussion of any necessary follow-up appointments or treatments based on findings.
- If suspicious lesions are found, a biopsy may be recommended for further analysis.
