Volume Management
Volume management is used to plump many different areas of the face, such as lips and cheeks. The procedure typically involves the use of prescribed substances, administered via a small needle to help lift and plump the treated areas effectively. A consultation is required with a GP to assess suitability.
What you need to know:
- Swelling, redness, lumps, bumps or bruising at the injection sites is common but usually subsides within a few days. Bruising may be present for up to 1 week.
- The treated area may initially feel tender or sensitive. Avoid touching or massaging the area for 24 hours post-treatment.
- Effects vary by treatment type, typically lasting 6-12 months.
- Maintenance may be needed to sustain results.
- Medications and supplements: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), blood thinners (anticoagulants) and some supplements can raise your risk of bleeding and bruising.
- Contraindications are pregnancy/breast feeding, antibiotics, possible or recent illness, infection and vaccines.
- History of cold sores needs be disclosed.
- Adhere to any post-treatment instructions given by your provider, such as avoiding strenuous exercise or extreme temperatures for a short period. Face down massages and laser treatments must be postponed for 2 weeks following this treatment.
